So, Thomas Vanek isn't dead after all. And neither is the Sabres PP that went 2 for 7 and had the last two goals for the Sabres including Pominville's OT GWG.

The Sabres also took advantage of a tired Hurricanes team that was in the back end of back-to-back games in the form of outshooting the Canes by a 42 to 24 margin.

Now it's onto Boston that has the advantage of having Wednesday off after beating Toronto on Tuesday night.

Good News: The Sabres are two points behind Winnipeg for 8th place. Although, since the Jets own the tiebreaker over the Sabres, they are really 3 points out of a playoff spot with 15 games to play for each team.

Bad News: The Sabres are tied at 70 points with the Capitals and Washington has a game in hand. So, not only do they need to jump over the Jets, they need to pass the Capitals as well.

Praying for a two point game: Tampa Bay (68 pts) and Washington (70 pts) play in Washington tonight. So, the best case scenario is Tampa Bay winning in regulation. But, the Sabres are really hoping that they don't go to OT and both teams get at least a point.
