It's been a while

So, Drew Stafford and Tim Connolly are still Sabres.

You didn't really expect Regier to move them, did you?

I've gotten over Tim Kennedy getting whacked over $200k or so. I think it was a short sighted move. But, I doubt the guy blossoms into Pat Kane v2.0, so it won't be a huge deal down the road.

The Shaone Morrisonn (that name is realllllllly hard to spell correctly) signing was intriguing. That either means that Mike Weber isn't a virtual lock to make the roster, Criag Rivet's rehab isn't going as swimmingly as the Sabres had previously said, there is a trade coming soon that will ship a defenseman out of town, Chris Butler is headed to Portland, or a bit of everything.

While I wasn't in love with the Leopold deal, I kind of like how the defense looks right now minus on the PP. Leopold could be a nice compliment to Myers. Morrisonn & Montador would be a nice, physical pairing. And a third pairing made up of two out of Butler, Weber, Sekera, and Rivet isn't half bad if they can get two guys out of that four that are better than last year.

This team may not have made quantum leaps in improvement over last year. But, I can see why they would think that they didn't need to after winning the division.

They are once again banking on the forwards growing up a bit more. Maybe Tyler Ennis can have a sizable impact like Tyler Myers did last year.

They are also banking on Leopold & Morrisonn being better than Tallinder & Lydman. That could go either way.

But all in all, this off season has gone pretty close to what I expected.
